Tricycle Race: the lyrics

House of Glee productions is pleased to present the lyrics to "Tricycle Race," fresh off the debut album Mitzi Drives the Bus.* The song is based upon "Bicycle Race" by Queen. Due to potential copyright issues (i.e. not having cleared anything with the Queen estate), you will have to listen to the song in your head (here is a link to Queen's video). Then, sing it loud, proclaiming to the world all of the rage of your rebellious (preschool) youth.

Tricycle Race

Tricycle, tricycle, tricycle
I want to ride my tricycle, tricycle, tricycle
I want to ride my tricycle
I want to ride my trike
I want to ride my tricycle
I want to ride it where I like

You say yes, I say no
You say stop, I say go
You say sleep I say hey man
Baby Einstein’s not my scene
And I don't like
Raffi
You say sit, I say stand
You say fresh, I say canned
You say nap, I say play
I don't believe in tooth-decay
Salad-forks or molding clay
All I wanna do is:

Tricycle, tricycle, tricycle
I want to ride my tricycle, tricycle, tricycle
I want to ride my tricycle
I want to ride my trike
I want to ride my tricycle
I want to ride my—

Tricycle races are coming your way
So forget about flash-cards, oh yeah!
All the preschoolers will ride out today
And look out for the toddlers, oh yeah
On your marks, get set, go--
Tricycle race, tricycle race, tricycle race
Tricycle, tricycle, tricycle, I want to ride my tricycle
Tricycle, tricycle, tricycle
Tricycle race

You say milk, I say juice
You say Wayne, I say
Bruce
(Batman), I say cool it, man
I don't wanna be the President of Student Council
You say smile, I say frown
Pokemon gets me down,
I don't wanna be a candidate
For Harvard Law or Texas State
Cos all I want to do is:

Tricycle, tricycle, tricycle
I want to ride my tricycle, tricycle, tricycle
I want to ride my tricycle
I want to ride my trike
I want to ride my tricycle
I want to ride it where I like.

What an unspeakable outrage to have the good name of Queen thus maligned. I shall write to the estate of Freddy Mercury posthaste, and report you.

Noodle: I'll remember you said that! :) :)

You really should try and get some kind of permission. I'm sure they'd give it to you. It's a children's song after all. So funny.

Thanks, Nonny! If it ever comes down to it, I will look into getting permission to use the tune. Preliminary research indicates a good starting link here.

MAJOR shout of glee here, story lady! VERY well done. I couldn't have laughed harder if I had gone to the circus.

You really need to get to work on that album. We're all waiting breathlessly!

I'm totally not anonymous! I'm me! Me! I want the album!

Me too, Galetea! Although, technically I should wait to begin to record until the time that

1)The callouses on my fingers will have built up enough so that I don't wince when playing "Greensleeves."

2)I find some other band members.

OK now I will be humming that one every afternoon while I watch my little guy going in circle. Picture of him on my blog today, riding his trike, of course! Great song!

I thought the House of Glee were the other members!

MDTB is whomever plays music with me at the moment. It's like the Waterboys.
