Flower girl dress

I don't think Lucia is going to preschool this morning. After coughing for much of the night, she finally went to sleep and is still sacked out. Bede and I are lousy-achy too, but we can keep ourselves propped up with hot liquids and backrubs. I have an appointment with a friend this morning to go over some video footage. I hope I'll be able to share the storytelling video with you. I need get the copyright clearance, first.

I was not idle yesterday. I stitched up Lucia's flower girl dress:

There are seven flower girls in Seattle-Jane's upcoming wedding. It's not going to be a fancy wedding, but Seattle-Jane has a lot of little girls in her life and doesn't want to choose just one for the petal-scattering. I saw a photo of one of the other little girls, and she's wearing a poofy white dress with matching patent-leather shoes. I don't sew poofy dresses, as they'd end up bunchy (like Lucia's tutu). Still, I'd like to attempt something more complex than a sleeveless cotton dress... not while Lucia is in her single-digits, though.

Update: I just added lace to the waist to give it a bit more of a wedding-party flair:

Now about these hot liquids and back rubs. Are the hot liquids actual bodily fluids? Besides don't you think it's a little indiscreet to let us see round the private door of the bedroom you share with Bede? Some things are best left unsaid!

Your YP friend is kind of a pervert, Alkelda. No offense or anything. Some perverts are okay.

I hope you all feel much better soon!

Lucia looks gorgeous in her flower girl dress!

LSM: Yorkshire Pudding takes great delight in trying to shock me. That said...

YP: You know I love you. But please keep the "bodily fluids" off this blog!

Lucia looks lovely in her new dress and I'm sure she'll outshine the poofy whiteness ;)

I've been a lurker for quite a while, don't often have time to comment... but I wanted to ask - how do you find out who is linking to you? I have always wanted to know!!!

Very pretty and spring-y! I wish I knew how to sew. Of course, I don't want to actually take the time and effort to learn, but if I were to suddenly wake up one morning with the ability to sew, I would be OK with that.

Schelle: If you go to http://technorati.com and type in your blog address, you should be able to see who is linking to you. I also check my site meter (under "Digitopolis") to see who is visiting me. The "0:00 seconds" visits I usually ignore but if there's been any length of time (seconds, really) that people have visited, I check out the stats to see how people have stumbled across the blog. I like my new site meter, and it's free.

Goddess: I understand, I really do. I didn't really learn to sew until a couple of years ago. And that was after having a new sewing machine lingering in storage for 3 years. So far, I haven't made anything terribly tailored or fitted-- that's going to require another sewing class, or at the very least, opening the sewing book I bought a year ago and haven't consulted since.

I love flower girl dresses, but there is nothing more special than a homemade one. Just remember to save it for when shes grown because little girls never forget their big flower girl day.

FGD: Thanks! I will definitely save it. My mom made one for me when I was 7 years old. I wore it for two years afterward, as it was suitable for everyday summer wear.
