Wagon Wheel Ring
Last summer, when Bede, Lucia and I visited the East Coast, I asked my Grandma Anne if I could have one of her jewelry pieces as a tangible memory. She said yes. I chose a large garnet ring that reminded me of a wagon wheel. While I don't remember anything specific about the ring from my childhood, looking at it brought up clear memories of living in Grandma's house in New Jersey. Maybe she wore it when we went on day-trips into New York City. The ring looks like the sort of piece she'd wear to a play or a concert.
After Grandma Anne died in January 2007, I brought the ring into a jewelry shop to have it sized up. Now, the wagon wheel ring actually fits my finger. I can't wear it while playing guitar, as it's too heavy and slides to one side. Maybe I can wear it for evening storytelling performances (just as long as I don't put out an eye when I gesture).

Beautiful.
That is one big ring.
WOW! It's huge! But it's pretty, and the sentimental value is priceless.
Thanks! The jeweler said that it's probable these large pieces will come into fashion again someday... not that I'm concerned with fashion trends. :)
