On Sunday, when I visited the local fabric store to pick up some embroidery thread, I was surprised to find that Paschkis now has a line of fabric designs for In The Beginning. The collection is called Folklorica and its target audience appears to be quilters. I do not quilt, but I do sew a little, so I bought some of this fabric to make a merry storytelling skirt:
I would enjoy looking at someone's vision of a quilt made out of Paschkis' fabrics. If you ever make one, please let me know.

I'm so glad you pointed this out to me. Who knew she had fabrics? I mentioned it in the comments of last week's kicks post, and someone's already said she wishes she were a quilter.

for an example of a quilt with Paschkis' fabrics. Not sure that I would do it like that, but the fabrics certainly are gorgeous!
Playing By the Book: Thanks for the link. I wouldn't do it like that either, were I a quilter, but that may be because my eyes have gotten used to triangles.
Jules: Quilting is a serious obsession, which is why I've resisted thus far. I already have one large box of remnant fabric-- that fabric would quadruple with quilting.

Oooh, that fabric would make a glorious story-telling quilt. Big enough for a bunch of people to sit on, or for at least one big person and three or four little people to snuggle under. Where can one purchase this fabric?
I've longed for fabrics based on the clothes in the Boris Zvorykin Firebird book we sent you guys a while back. This fabric reminds me of it, strongly.
And you're right about quilting. I've only just dipped my toes in the water, it's bad news...

Kathleen: as a tangent, you might be amused to know that I gave my daughter's teacher a bag of fabric remnants to use for the class quilt. Today, I brought home the bag and it came back with more fabric than I had brought. How can that be?
And yes, the fabric is indeed evocative of the Firebird book. If you pick up some Paschkis fabric, let me know what you get.

All of Julie's books have such gorgeous designs on the covers and endpages that I can imagine her doing fabric. Lovely, rich patterns and colors.
If she starts making stationery, I'm in trouble...
