I used to be so fascinated by the notion of sleep when I was a child, this idea that it was one time of the day in which we're not *aware* of ourselves and what we're doing...
but I digress.
I agree with Adrienne -- I want to come play with all your dolls.
I was so tired that afternoon that I asked my daughter to treat me as terrain. As my husband came home, Lucia gleefully pointed ou the new gnome dolly that I had stitched up that afternoon from a birthday party favor kit she'd received a few weeks ago.
You're all welcome to come play with the dolls, put on puppet-shows, and borrow the dress-up clothes.
Anamaria: The yellow one is indeed the gnome. I should post the pattern. And yes, I was asleep. By late afternoon, I'm beat. Sometimes I get lucky and can nap for 30 minutes. I'm usually out cold to maximize the time.
I am a musical storyteller in Seattle, Washington. I make embroidered wool felt dolls: Alkelda Dolls. Full disclosure: I am neither a saint nor a textile-spinner.

but how did the little creatures maintain such perfect equanimity while the sleeping sleeper slept?
I have a picture of my little sister RIDING my older sister while she slept.
Kids are so funny when they're messing with (other) people sleeping.
Love it! Once I put rubber bands around my father's toes while he slept :).
We have a picture of Lucas like this that we refer to as "stuffonmykid.com."
Those dolls are totally cute, by the way. You guys have The Best Dolls.

This is what I found when I came home from work that day. Lucia's comment: "look Daddy, a gnome!"
Is the gnome the little yellow one? They're all so cute! You included, of course. You're not really sleeping, are you?
