Four to the floor with CPR
To administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the American Heart Association recommends 100 chest compressions per minute. "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees, with its infectious four to the floor rhythm, has 103 beats per minute. Disco lives-- and it saves lives! (Sorry, I couldn't resist.) HipWriterMama has the story with links.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!
I read that earlier this week, but ONLY YOU would say disco saves lives!
Honestly, it's a great idea -- that song is INESCAPABLE, and everyone seems to know at least the "Ah-ah-ah-ah" bit, so perhaps lives really WILL be saved. Something has to make up for the horror...
I love this. Of course, I hope never to be in the position of having to administer CPR--but I can't wait to practice!
Wow - who knew?
I came here to say my goodbyes, but did I NOT just have that video up not too long ago??
Now I have to listen to the song again. I know, I'm a selfish um...person.
Keep in touch!!!
Lady K: You did indeed have the Beegees' video up not too long ago. We'll miss you!
LSM: I know. And there are more incredible things, too, as you will discover when you open your inbox.
Anamaria: I'm way overdue to get my CPR update, but I'm glad to have this song in my head for it.
TadMack: I sympathize. I like disco, but I sympathize anyway. I had to laugh when I read an article recently about a guy who was charged a fine for playing his music too loud in the car, and the judge offered to lower his fine if he would listen to two hours of classical music. The guy lasted 15-20 minutes!
