I've finally finished sewing the two pairs of trousers for the 2006 Boyer Children's Clinic auction. Here they are:
Maisy at the Fair goes with the green and white striped trousers because it's one of the few Maisy books that has the matching trousers on the cover. There was also a Maisy pirate book that tempted me, but I wanted to keep costs down.
Speaking of costs... now I have to figure out the fair market prices on the trouser-and-book sets. These items will be on display at the silent auction component of the gala, and their fair market prices won't necessarily match the top bids. The trousers are simple but sturdy, with reinforced seams and extra room in the hips to accomodate "fluffy" diapers.

A couple of months ago the library authority I work organised a big book open weekend thingy with storytellers and authors doing some really good stuff. There are several costumes which memebrs of staff have to dress up in. One of them is Maisy Mouse. Fortunately i am too tall for it. I am however not too tall for th Gruffalo costume.
The dressing up parts is aces! I do it every year. Hopefully next year I'll get to do it all day and get out of a lot of hard work. :-)
One word ~ ADORABLE! Wish I could sew like that. You're a hero of mine.
What a fantastic and clever idea! I hope the clinic is well rewarded for your ingenuity!
I love the whole idea! for pin-pointing fair market price, you might try selling a set or two on eBay.
Speaking of eBay, what better place to find quantities of offbeat fabrics for making more sets?
I love this idea! I am going to remember to do something like this for our school auction next spring.
Thanks, all! More later. I just came back from the doctor's office, a place I've tried to avoid because of our catastrophic insurance policy. The bad news is that my the inside of my throat is all covered with sores. The good news is that it's not strep. The bad news is that it's a nasty little virus that just has to stay its course. The good news is that I have a little codeine to help me cope. The bad news is that I can only take it for two days. The good news is... all things go.
This perspective was brought to you by the "That Was Bad!/That Was Good!" themed silly story motif.
I'm going to go with $25. Then they will probably bring $40 or so. So adorable. You are so talented!
I am sorry you do not feel well! those throat viruses are better than strep, but can hurt. Get well soon!
LSM: I was thinking $25, too. I'm just not ready for eBay. It's a good idea,BlueMamma, but I'm not making these sets for anything but fundraisers.
