Gordon Bok released "The Brandy Tree (The Otter's Song)" the year I was born, but I only just learned it in January. It's become my new song to sing and play on guitar. Thanks to mandolin, I've got a better ear for picking out melodies in chords, and can bring some of that skill into playing this song. One of my favorite passages is the meeting of equals:
"But the seal don't try to tell
me how to fish in the windy blue
Seal’s
been fishing for a thousand years, and he knows that I have too."
