While I applaud everyone who does features for April is National Poetry Month, I must admit I've never felt the particular call to follow suit. For me, it's like eating steel-cut oatmeal 4 times a week for 48 weeks and then participating in National Steel-Cut Oatmeal Month. I know I'm one of the lucky ones, and there are people who have scant exposure to steel-cut oatmeal, but I have full confidence that other bloggers will make up for my slacker attitude.
I will be celebrating April Fool's Day with Minh Le of Bottom Shelf Books and whomever else participates in our contest next week. The "April Fool" is not that we're pulling your leg about putting your creativity to work and winning fabulous prizes, but that we want you to have a silly, fun time doing it without feeling like a fool. We're very serious about that. We promise not to tape a paper fish onto your back.... or at least, attempt the resist the urge. Stay tuned for details to come in just 5 days.

The paper fish! I wanted to make the kids t-shirts with fish appliqued on the backs this year but decided that would just be mean. I might still do it, though! Cf. A Brother for the Orphelines.

Well, I suspect that Lucia is doing a little projection. Pizza is her favorite, and she wants to live in California when she grows up... California or Japan. But yes, we would like to visit California again! LSM, I fear that my grand plans to visit Texas this summer are going to have to be put on hold.
I like the idea of the fish appliqued onto the backs of shirts. I'd wear one.
A couple weeks ago, I introduced a friend to steel-cut oatmeal who didn't even know such a thing existed. (Of course, the only reason *I* know it exists is because the metal container of the brand I get is so enticing, which is what made me pick it up that first time in the store.)
What? No! Why?
LSM: It's going to come down to $$. We have our Santa Fe trip, and any time the three of us fly, it ends up being a big chunk of change. I'll keep a lookout for cheap flights to Corpus Christi, but airfares are daunting.
I don't suppose you fancy a trip up North??? Yeah, I know. $$$

oh and we are definately making tshirts with fishes on the back! That's a fabulous idea. We made the walnut poisson cradles last year. Yipee!
