Winter Nature Table and Santa Lucia Day

As promised, here is the view of our winter nature table at the House of Glee. The winter nature table had to be combined with the nativity set, so the Earth Angel, Santa Lucia and King Winter are watching over the Wise Men and their camels as they make their way across the hutch:

The Earth Angel, King Winter and the felted angel hovering above the nativity set are all made by Nushkie and Santa Lucia was made by Haddy2dogs. Etsy has been a den of temptation, I tell you....

December 13 is Santa Lucia's feast day, but today was the day the school celebrated the festival. At my daughter's request, my mom made a Santa Lucia crown from silk ivy leaves complete with candle-holder clips from Germany:

Despite several requests from our own Lucia, Bede and I refuse to light the candles. Call us spoilsports, but we are not interested in winning any Darwin Awards.

Tomorrow, I have my last gig in my fall series with Pierce County Library System at the Eatonville branch, and then Sunday is the Winter Spiral. See you next week!

HA. I don't think we'll EVER read about you all in the Darwin Awards.

Adorable!

The link to the Winter(Advent) Spiral is an excellent one. Thank you! (It is so easy for glitches which which can disturb the reverent mood. When it works, it is lovely.)

Awww! The minute I saw the picture the Santa Lucia song started running through my head. Too cute!

Though you and Bede are TOTALLY NO FUN for not lighting the candles.

have you seen the LED candles that flicker? They're beginning to look more and more realistic. and they won't catch anything on fire. I found nice "tea light" sized ones at Walgreen's.

Smart Glee parents - don't light them.

Lovely Lucia, lovely winter nature table!

I had to come here and tell you (just in case you don't get a chance to check back), but ONCE is my favorite movie!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've blogged about it sometimes. I am tremble at the thought of being, well, thought of, in the same mind space. Thank you for that.

Beth: I'm so glad that ONCE is your favorite movie. It's a good match.:)

LSM: I think ABCGirl is onto something.

ABCGirl: I don't think I have, but I am in favor of LED lights.

TadMack: I know, I know, but one of the candles is flopping over. I think if the wreath is not going to look like the Statue of Liberty setup, we're going to need to figure out some padding under the leaves.

Vivian: Thanks! The gig went well. I am relieved, too, that the snow came today, and not yesterday when we would have had to drive a goodly distance in it.

Melangell: The Winter Spiral was lovely tonight. No one stood on the chairs and sang "Jingle Bells," you'll be pleased to know.

Jules: From your lips to God's ears! Mazel tov.

K.Jay: Thanks! It was a good gig, and a nice closing to the series. All that driving left us pooped. But hey, if you're ever in Eatonville, Washington, visit the Mountain View Cafe. They have yummy burgers.
