Today, I share with you the Bunny in a Bowl video. All you will see is a sound-free clip of a bunny sitting in its bowl and eating its food. I am reminded of the miniature black rabbit my mom brought home when I was eight. I named him Shadrach, after the book of the same title by Miendert DeJong, illustrated by Maurice Sendak.
After Shadrach came the teddy bear hamster Meshach, and the mouse Abednego (whom I picked out along with a mouse we named John). We had thought Abednego was male, but then Johnson and Hester came along. We separated the boys and the girls, but once again, we were wrong. Abednego had several litters of babies. Some of the babies went to the pet shop, but others escaped. When we moved from that house, I'm sure the renters after us were amused.

OH!!!!!! It's people like YOU who leave behind those long-haired hamsters to TRAUMATIZE me!!!!!!!
That was a really bad moment this summer. Our goal is to have our house rodent free... someday...
Sweet! My mom is always all mean about our having guinea pigs and a rabbit - she says no one will ever want to come to our house, although she and my critter-hating sister are the only people who have ever seemed to mind. Please tell your mom that I think she rocks.
Tanita: I must admit, when you told me the story of the long-haired hamster, I had a few twinges of guilty discomfort.
LSM: I knew a woman who insisted on letting her bunnies hop around the apartment instead of being caged in their hutch because... well, she was crazy. (That's another story, though.) You could not walk anywhere in that apartment without being in danger of stepping on a "present." That is the low, low standard by which I now judge pets in houses. I think your house will be okay. :)
I do let the bunny hop around in the living room, but she generally goes back to her litter box, or at least to her cage, for elimination (she always pees in the litterbox but does sometimes scatter her presents in the rest of the cage if she feels we have cleaned it too much and it smells like it is not hers). She only leaves presents in the living room if we are mean about keeping her cooped up for a really long time as vengeance and then she goes back to her potty-trained ways.
LSM: The vengeance of the bunny rabbit is something to be feared and avoided.
