My garden, in brief

Here is a link to some photos I took for the Sunday Garden Stroll:

Borage, nasturtium, and plenty more

Lucia has started eating more fresh green leaves and herbs as a result of our gardening efforts. She is a particular fan of borage flowers and nasturtium leaves, but will also gladly eat lettuce, mint and lemon balm.

You may see the roundup at A Wrung Sponge.

I've never had luck with nasturtiums. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Yours look wonderful! And your garden tour guide is charming and adorable.

I want to try some borage. It makes a calming tea and improves the flavor of tomatoes, I've heard.

That is one happy and proud looking gardener! It's amazing what they'll eat when they plant it and grow it themselves, tee hee...

Your gardens look so beautiful and sane. I keep meaning to photograph and post examples of the insanity that rules my gardens. Maybe this evening if the sun holds out....

Pretty!

Writer2b, Sheila, LSM and Charlotte: Thanks!

Cloudscome: Our nasturtiums had a late start because of the cold, but they do remarkably well in this corner of the country. I'm guessing that it's nothing you're doing wrong per se, but just the way it goes in your particular patch. They like sun, I know that much. Borage tastes a lot like cucumbers. I don't care for the texture of the leaves, but I'm planning to make a yogurt and cucumber dish and float some borage flowers in it.

Becky: Yes indeed! I've had to rein in Lucia on having only so much per day-- just so we have something for tomorrow. I hope she gets to eat the carrots and cucumbers before the garden predators do.

Adrienne: I wish I had proper "before" pictures so that you could see the insanity that was our front and back yard two years ago... even last summer. Gardening is a proper part-time job at the very least. Maybe my title should be "Grounds-keeper.":) I'd like to see your garden-insanity.

What a truly hideous garden! I mean, look at it. There are no winebagliums, no poofatooflillies, no zanzibaniums, and not a single yellow macaroniuncheezium, either!

Okay, I made that stuff up. I just want attention. Your garden is lovely.

Timothy: Three times I have tried to grow yellow macaroniuncheeziums, and either they just don't thrive in Seattle or I planted them too close to the Cremebrulee Bush.

I am LOVING IT!!! LOVING, LOVING, LOVING it! Wish I was there to play in the dirt up there. And holy cow, Lucia is growing faster than those nasturtiums! WOW! I am SO smiling down here.

I have never seen borage before, but it is supposed to attract bees to the garden, so people like to plant it near tomatoes so I have heard....I just pollinate those myself.

Your garden is so charming and tranquil...so wonder Lucia enjoys the things she helps grow...!
