READ poster for Lucia

Hey! Remember the READ poster generator Sam Riddleburger discovered? I finally made one for myself... or rather, I made one for Lucia. I've been moping about, saying, "My baby! Where did my baby go?" and looking at old photos. Here's one I found of 6 month old Lucia:

Soon she'll be sixteen and dating a spotty oik who smokes drugs and "borrows" his mom's car. And maybe she'll yell "I HATE YOU!" when you try to curb her freedom. Enjoy her childhood as much as she does. How about a little brother for Lucia? That would give you and Mr Gleeful something to concentrate on this winter... You could tell the story in your blog! That would be sure to attract lots of hits.

YP: Oh, dear, spare me the spotty oiks who smoked drugs. I dated at least two of them, and I don't know how my parents dealt with it.

As far as the little brother goes-- who knows? I just wouldn't want to go through post-partum depression again. That was no fun. We'd definitely have to move from our little house, as there is barely enough room for the three of us.

soooo cute. Reminds me of my little brother.

My son is older than you, and I still find myself occasionally looking around for the eight-year-old who was right here only a moment ago. Sigh.

I think only children are wonderful. Of course, that is what I had, and I like him a lot, then and now.

Okay, I can't beat "sugar britches punkin' head" so I'll just second Jules on that. :)

What a great poster! And a great kid!

Gives me an idea. Maybe every library needs to have the poster generator going to crank out individual read mini-posters for each kid.

Sam: I do wonder-- would ALA get sniffy about the READ posters, or would they consider it a high form of flattery? It's not as if people would be making knock-off celebrity posters.

40forever: You are too kind. Thank you.

Noodle and Jules: I'm thinking nothing beats "Sugar britches."

Graceanne: Did your son used to have cute toes? :) I agree with you about only children. People say sometimes, "Only children are spoiled and don't learn how to share," but I think that only children may be more likely to share because they've never had power struggles over stuff. And spoiling is completely up to the parent, not the child.

Odd facts: Thanks!

Yes, my son had cute toes. He was, and is, in fact excellent at sharing, and has some friends he has had since high school, when he adopted them as siblings.

This "spoiling" business always reminds me of vegetables. I don't quite know what it means. An only child is beloved, but not indulged.

That is just adorable!!! I adore those little wiggly toes. I need to play with that generator a little too.

Oh, goodness. That is just the cutest picture. I LOVE that poster.

Eisha gets all the credit for teaching me the phrase "sugar britches" during a moment in which she was talking about/gushing over her new nephew.

Oh, so cute!

Nothing wrong with only children...but for sisters being one of life's greatest joys, of course(: But one can get brothers, so it's a risky business. I have three brothers...

What's with this "who knows"? I thought you were decided.

LSM: I can decide all I wanna, but both my grandma and Bede's mom had "joyful surprises" when they were 40 years old. Bede is the product of a 40 year old egg! So, I'm just sayin'-- sometimes God and biology have other ideas.
