Intermission

Saints and Spinners is taking a break from posting until Monday, July 16. Here's what I'm going to do in the meantime:

1) Prepare for my 3 storytelling gigs over the next four days
2) Do some preliminary sorting and planning for the 16th Carnival of Children's Literature
3) Catch up on my blog reading and commenting

Please leave all compliments, virtual gifts, words of encouragement, ideas for future blog posts and other kind, considerate things in the comments box.

I leave you with a picture of the apricot rose in my garden. Currently, it is wilting from the heat. Today's temperature was 97 degrees Fahrenheit. I watered all my plants this evening, but clearly some of them are not going to make it.

Oh my GOSH I HEARD you guys were getting the killer heat up there! 97 and you MUST be wilting from all the humidity, too!

We're getting it, as well, down here.

The rain is coming, the rain is coming! I SAW the radar...

Somehow I felt like Chicken Little just now... ;-)

Such a lovely rose!

I laugh at your 97 degrees. I laugh at your humidity! Come visit and I will show you heat and humidity. Also, it has been monsoon season, so the mosquitos are carrying away small children.

Have fun at your gigs!

Good luck! You've said before at our blog that you tried this before, right, and ended up posting anyway. So, be strong. I am wanting to do something similar in a couple weeks maybe, so we'll see if I can make it.

Jules: I'm sure I will find lots of things to blog about. However, I'll save them in draft form, and then have some posts in reserve. O, the cleverness.

LSM: You laugh at our humidity, and I faint at the thought of yours. Get those bats to do their job and chow down on the mosquitoes so the mosquitoes don't chow down on you!

Lady K: I love rain. Rain at night, sun in the morning. How about it?

Good luck with the storytelling!

I will miss your updates, but sometimes it's good to have a break in the old routine, recharge and whatnot.

Alkelda, sometimes even well-watered plants wilt during the heat of the day, then recover when the cool night air comes...try some Wilt shield...rats, I forget the brand name...Cloud Cover! that's it! Usually my brain doesn't function this well! Do you have any mulch? that could help too...some cities will dump a pile on your driveway for a nominal fee.

The rose is gorgeous! What a color! My roses (except the Knockouts which never stop blooming--the darlings!) are taking a break in the heat.
Keep cool!

Being a desert dweller, I won't pass up rain ANY time, day or night. This time of year, though, the sunrises/sunsets can't be beat, unless you're on a beach somwwehere. At present, give me ANY beach.

Sometimes you just need a little time to rejuvenate. Enjoy your time off and good luck on your gigs!

Wow - 97 degrees in Seattle! That is amazing. Here are some words of encouragement as requested - Hurrah for Alkelda! Bravo Alkelda! Alkelda for President! Evict The Gorilla! Hope you have enjoyed your (rather short) break.

Thank you for the accolades, YP. Of what should I be president? President of the Ubiquitious Silliness of Aardvarks?

HWM: Thanks! Two down, one to go...

Lady K: I would be such a desert wuss, I think.

Diana: Thanks for the tips. I'll look for Cloud Cover. I need some Cloud Cover myself...

Adrienne: Thanks! I'm preparing for the rush of Carnival submissions toward the end. So far, I've got most posts in some sort of category, but we'll see how things shape up.

That last remark along with your unblemished youthfulness are the chief reasons why you missed out on a prestigious "Mature Blogger" award this time round. Please don't cry.

Saints and Spinners said...

YP: Don't worry! I only cry about people, animals and books.

P.S. And plants.

I applaud you for taking time off. I think maybe there needs to be a policy for all bloggers to take off at least one week during the summer, one week during the holidays (bare minimum here).

Should we write that into our by-laws?

Thanks, Robin. It's a good idea to have sanctioned time off. Of course, I can't help but think, "My statistics are going to go down!" but I think I'm a little overconcerned with the daily list of visits.
