The 48 Hour Book Challenge Begins

It's 7:20 am, and I'm ready to read. I'll catch up on blog-reading and commenting after the 48 hour challenge. In the meantime, I'll be reading the books I've bought but never read because I had to make the library books a priority, plus those library books that went back barely-read after 3 weeks.

My first book is Fragile Things, by Neil Gaiman. Ready, set... GO!

Oh I'm envious. I simply can't pull it off, not with two very young children. One day . . .

My storytelling gig is tomorrow. Thanks for your assistance. I did find my copy of the Ellin Green book, and I was all inspired to learn The Rough-Face Girl (Alonquin Indian version of "Cinderalla," as you probably know) after I saw it in a bibliography in that book, and I re-learned "The Stonecutter" and an Indian fable, called "The Lion and the Rabbit" (with lots of audience participation). I'll have my felt board and original felt board characters for the last two (as a school librarian, I discovered that kids reeeeally dig those felt board stories, even older kids).

I'm nervous but excited. Haven't done storytelling in a while. I have enjoyed learning The Rough-Face Girl (such a beautiful story!!). Thanks for your tips! Good luck with The Challenge . . .

Hey! There's more to life than reading! You women have got work to do! Where's Bede's dinner? Where's his clean shirt? Come on lady let's get with it!

Jules: As it turned out, I couldn't do the 48 hour book challenge either. So it goes! Good luck on your storytelling gig tomorrow.

YP: Bede's clean shirt is on the table. After washing so much laundry today due to the potty-scenario, I told Bede that I was too tired to do anything but fold the clean laundry, and he could put it away himself. He agreed, but it's still on the table, which means that he was too tired as well. The cats will probably sit on the clean shirt and make it furry.
