Tulip Town 2007
Today, we joined up with two other families from Lucia's school to visit the 24th Annual Tulip Festival in Skagit County, Washington. The weather was chilly, the skies were overcast and the fields were muddy. We enjoyed our time among the tulips, but realized that in previous years, we had been spoiled with an abundance of sunshine and fair winds. Lucia enjoyed playing tag with her friends but got mad when she fell down in the mud. Her favorite part of the festival has always been the water wheel:

Lucia looks so sweet. Daddy even looks happy being amongst the tulips.
Tulips blooming in Washington State? You lucky, lucky gal. I LOVE tulips. It's been much too cold here though for anything more than crocuses. Sigh.
I really hope that her outfit matching the tulips was just a coincidence.
Limpy99: Are you kidding? Every year, we say, "Okay, let's map out the tulip colors and coordinate outfits!" Really, though, Lucia just likes pink. Lots and lots of pink.
HipWriterMama: Springtime really is a lovely time to be in Washington State. We're pretty lucky in general-- we don't have to dig up our bulbs in the winter. I love those crocuses. If one were going to anthropomorphize them, they would be the brave flowers that come up despite threats of snow.
What lovely colors. And Lucia may learn some day that falling down in the mud is half the fun. It doesn't really hurt and most of it hoses off.
Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa... I've been gone for a long time, but I was working on ***A PROJECT*** and now it's done and I'm free, free, FREEEEE! Unfortunately ***THE PROJECT*** involved information available only in these papery rectangular things called books accessed by direct tactile and ocular stimulation so it kept me offline for awhile. Hello again! It's spring! Isn't it wonderful?
(AND -- I got paid! Hurrah!)
That looks like it would be a lot of fun!
