Sing Along with Bud and Don

Bud Luckey and Don Hadley were one of my favorite song-writing duos* from my single-digit years.** Hadley wrote the lyrics, and Luckey wrote the music and animated a number of classic songs from Sesame Street, including Alligator King, Ladybugs' Picnic, and Ten Tiny Turtles. I've been playing "Ladybugs' Picnic" in the style of Elizabeth Mitchell and practicing basic Travis picking at the same time (A, E7, D).

Music Videos:
Alligator King
Ladybugs' Picnic
Ten Tiny Turtles (Sorry about the furry red guy who appears at the beginning.)

*The Lennon/McCartney songwriters were particular favorites, too.
**No, I did not know who Luckey and Hadley actually were back then.

Picking is one of my favorite things to practice. I only practice alone, as it drives everyone crazy. You GO, girl! I am SO inspired. One of my resolutions, because of you, is to PLAY MORE GUITAR and SING, SING, SING. I'm glad I metcha.

Lady K: Rock on, sister! Bede is supportive of my guitar practice, but yeah, I'm quite conscious of repeating the same chord changes for long periods of time.

I love that ladybugs' picnic one. It is one of my favorite songs on sesame street. I bet you do it wonderfully!

Ohhh, can I be four again? Man, those songs are the BEST!! I love You-Tube man, nothing is ever really gone when there's someone to share a tape they copied from 1982. I love, love, LOVED that guy's voice, even, when I was a kid.

And I really just don't DO that red furry thing. The voice, the VOICE!! Quel annoying...

But seriously - thanks for the awesome memories. When the music came on, I could still actually SING parts of the Turtles and Ladybug song. How cool was that?

TadMack: I appreciate YouTube, too. I didn't actually watch much tv when I was a child, so I now get to see snippets of what I missed in the common lexicon. One thing I didn't miss was the red furry thing. He totally usurped Grover's rightful place. Since we don't have a tv, I've been able to show my daughter Bert and Ernie skits while almost totally skipping out on the red-fur guy.

I'm glad you can still sing the songs!
