If Paraskavedekatriaphobia is the fear of the occurance of Friday the 13th, then I must have Paraskavedekatriaphilia. Friday the 13th is a good day. The actual day of the week is allegedly named after Freya, the Norse goddess of love. (Just because I don't worship the old gods doesn't mean I ignore their stories. Quite the contrary.) Also, there are 13 months in the lunar calendar. I am in favor of symbolism linked to the moon. Last but not least, this particular Friday the 13th is Bede's and my 5 year wedding anniversary. I'd say I'm lucky!

Happy Anniversary!
gorgeous cake! somehow i'd pictured bede as shorter...
:)
Thanks!
Bede is 6'4". I am 5'3 & 3/4".
Happy anniversary!
That cake looks and sounds delicious. Hmmmm...cake...
Regarding the cake (and other food): friends of ours who had gotten married 2 years before using the same caterers and cake-makers said that they had a lot of leftover cake. It lived in their fridge for over a week, and they called it "Boris." With that in mind, Bede and I gleefully cleaned out the fridge, looking forward to ALL the leftovers.
Here's what we had for leftovers:
1 egg-salad sandwich
6 shortbread cookies
some assorted crackers and spread
That's it. Note that there's nothing about cake on the list! Fortunately, we got to have a 1 year anniversary cake made fresh for us (just the tiramisu layer). Yum yum yum.
Happy anniversary, love!
Oh! Happy anniversary. Your wedding looks like it was magical. And we can still "hear" the love in your voice when you talk about Bede.
Fridays are always good. Except when we're bad. Then we're better.
I just love, love, love the picture of your first dance. :) And I know I have never seen a more beautiful bride, who so perfectly donned her mother's (or was it grandmother's?) dress. Ahhhhh, so beautiful. I came across the pamphlet you handed out the other day. And I kid you not, I still have two of the silver oragami boxes, something I'm sure those of you who spent the ten thousand hours folding them will be happy to know.
Thank you, thank you all!
The dress I wore was my grandmother's. My mother wore it as well, but since she and my father got divorced, I thought it was best not to dwell on that detail during a wedding day. I'm glad to know that the silver origami boxes I folded (125 triangular boxes made of silver wrapping paper, with a single-word blessing inside each of them) have not all gone into the dustbin over the years. :)
I admit, I get teary-eyed when I hear the chorus of "Air that I Breathe."
Tonight, Bede and I went out with some family and friends to an Afghani restaurant we'd been meaning to try out for over five years. We won't wait that long again. I really liked the spices and seasonings-- cardamom, mint, and other good things. I have decided that as long as someone else is preparing eggplant, and that the eggplant is prepared in some Middle-Eastern way, I will eat it. Every time I think I'm totally off eggplant, I taste a dish that is just delectable.
Stupid internet being down at work. Happy Anniversary and thank you for sharing such wonderful memories.
I realized like Wednesday that yesterday was Ft13th. I refused to mention it or think about it all day as I was flying and I have enough anxiety about flying without needing that on top.
Today, I will say congrats! May you have 500 more!
Happy anniversary! I too still have my silver box, with "resolution" inside, although it now sits inside my dresser drawer to keep it from the cat.
Personally, my favorite part of your wedding is how it brought me out to visit Seattle for the first time and discover that it felt like home.
Phil Your favorite part of the wedding was definitely one of the highlights of the whole shindig!
Happy Anniversary!
Your dress was gorgeous! I love the simple lines, the trim on the veil... ah me. My human was married 4 times... just for the dresses, but she's weird that way. The #4 is the marriage that worked and she wore pants and a red shirt and red shoes.
Your cake was yummy looking too. You two look so very happy. Congratulations!
Hitman J: I hope the flight went well and nothing remotely unlucky haunted it. You're back and writing again which is a good sign. Thank you for your good wishes. Five hundred more, eh? I wonder what the present for anniversary 500 would be. Maybe a special hyperdrive spaceship.
Monkey: Getting married in red shoes sounds smashing, and I'm not just talking about the tradition in Jewish tradition where the groom steps on the glass.:)
Nonny:Please get that internet back up and working, if you have to lasso it and wrangle it to the ground! I miss your posts.
