When surprise is not so much fun

Devon T, an early childhood teacher in Japan and blogger for Head, Shoulders, Knees and all that, says Remember the automatic flush toilets when it comes to introducing children to something new. There's much more, including a neat little anecdote about a teacher introducing a variant of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" to children who might otherwise be resistant to a game that involves a blindfold.   1. Yeah, I'm thinking someone should alert ME when there are autoflush toilets. A kid -- being shorter -- would be even more startled, and possibly cry. Good thoughts.

  2. TadMack: I'm always worried the toilet isn't going to flush, and then I spend a goodly amount of time waving my hand in front of the infrared eye.
